Books are the plane, and the train, and the road. They are the destination and the journey. They are home. -Anna Quindlen
Here's a list of 5 amazing books that have helped walk me home to me. I highly recommend all of these reads to anyone, no matter where you are in your life's journey.
1. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a f*ck, by Mark Manson
In this book, Manson explains to readers through several different anecdotes and examples, how giving too many f*cks can be counterproductive and hell on someone's spirit. Manson encourages readers to evaluate the f*cks they are giving. This book is just as entertaining as it is helpful. This is a great read for those who have dealt with things such as depression and/or anxiety. It's sure to immediately change your outlook.
2. The 48 Laws of Power, by Robert Greene
This book was recommended to me when I was going through the most difficult time of my life. Initially, I was taken aback by the writing style. It seemed as if the book was encouraging readers to be horrible people in order to gain capital. However, that's not the case at all. This is one of those read-between-the-lines books. It actually teaches readers about the "power game", how to identify users, and how to have an overall better understanding of humanity. Knowledge is POWER.
3. Outwitting the Devil, by Napoleon Hill
This book haunted my Youtube feed for weeks before I finally decided to click and give it a listen. My life has since never been the same and that's no exaggeration. I've made several productive life decisions, and completely shifted paradigms. This book answers many questions that people may or may not know that have in life. Those who are fixed in religious mindsets likely won't like this book. If you're someone who has always questioned religious constructs, this is the book for you. This book is filled with powerful, thought-provoking passages that will stay with you forever.
4. The Magic of Thinking BIG, by David J Schwartz
If you need the inspiration to do anything in life, look no further than this book. It's truly a magical read. I started following the advice from this book, and since then I've had no problem manifesting anything I want in life. This book teaches one how to set realistic goals and combat them in magical ways. It's filled with amazing stories and life lessons. This is by far one of the top books in the self-help genre and if you read it, you'll see why.
5. Think and Grow Rich, by Napoleon Hill
Another classic by Napoleon Hill, Think and Grow Rich is a book for thinkers and dreamers. The title may lead some to believe that this book is some formula for material wealth. That's not the case at all. This is a manifesto that encourages self-evaluation. Hill's main objective as an author was to help readers gain control of their subconscious minds so that they can live life as opposed to simply surviving. This book is well worth the read. Although originally published in 1937, the lessons in this book are timeless.
